Metal Gear games can have pretty serious plots that deal with tough topics. One funny thing about the games has always been there, though. There are a lot of crazy parts, like weird one-off guards, crazy things, and, of course, crazy unlockables.
It is impossible to miss the Infinite Bandana and the Stealth Camouflage.
You can get unlockables that aren’t always funny; sometimes they’re very useful. This is important to get as soon as possible if you start a new save and already know what you need to know. They could also be cool things to wear or fun game types to play. Considering the time period, one of them is very cute.
Stealth Camouflage
The Stealth Camouflage is an extra that can be used in all main games in the series except the MSX games. No one can see you with it, plain and simple. This is a great thing to mess around with and really look into. When you open it on a second run, you can search for and find all the places you missed earlier that had items. This will help you do a better job on your next valid run.
The Stealth Camo either works on bosses or doesn’t work on them, which is a shame but makes sense. Hard-core pros might not like it, but it’s great for beginners and people who want to get achievements because it speeds up the story a lot.
Bandana
Infinite Bandana is another item that can be unlocked in all main Metal Gear games. The Infinity Face Paint isn’t really in MGS3, but it does the same thing. As long as you have it on, all of your guns will always have ammunition.
This makes the boss fights and surprise parts a lot easier, making the game easy. If you want to go the non-lethal way, it’s still pretty hard because having unlimited ammo doesn’t help non-lethal guns much. You only need to go dangerous to move forward fast with the Bandana.
Casting Theater
Metal Gear Solid 2 has a fun game called “Casting Theater” that you can play with after beating the main story. You can pick from eight endings, and you can change up all the main characters to look like almost any other character in the game.
Strange things like MGS1 Snake and Meryl are in this. Those models only show up in VR Missions and Snake Tales, not in the main game. You can possibly make Machinimas out of these if you want to. It’s fun to try new things here. But it’s too bad there isn’t a normal story watcher like there is in MGS3.
Congratulations URL
This one is pretty hard to find, which is fair. In MGS2, you don’t have to collect every dog tag to get any of the achievements or trophies, but if you do, you’ll get a surprise prize. You’ll get a unique URL when you get all of them and hit the screen that says “end results.” This doesn’t work anymore, but Konami has saved a copy of it.
You can get unique MGS2 pictures, icons, and even a sound effect from the website. This is so cute, and it’s definitely from that time. These days, no game would give you a URL that will never work again at some point. It’s also open to everyone, even if you haven’t unlocked the special message.
EZ Gun
Starting with MGS2, the game gave you a lot of choices that didn’t kill enemies. For the top ranks, you have to get through without killing anyone, but there weren’t any great guns that didn’t kill people. That’s where MGS3’s EZ Gun comes in handy.
This weapon comes with an endless amount of ammo and a good fire fate. It is the best tool to use when beating bosses without killing them to get those special camo items. You also get a huge boost to your camo rating. It’s a little annoying to get because you have to get all 48 animals and plants in one run. It’s worth the trouble, but you might need to use a guide.
Peep Demo Theater
This is the one that takes the most time to unlock in MGS3. You have to watch every story in the game on a single save file in order to get to the Peep Demo Theater. Because there are four possible results in the Ocelot fight at the end, this needs to be played at least four times. Also, getting all of the boss fight moments in The End is hard; you have to wait days or even weeks to see some of them.
The hidden mostly has a bunch of sexy scenes with Eva, some of which have been changed so that Eva wears even less clothes than in the campaign. I think the best thing about this is the funny turn at the end. It will make you laugh out loud.
Altair Costume
Metal Gear Solid 4 is not only one of the best action games for the PS3, but it also had some weird content that wasn’t found in other games made by Konami. Before MGS4, nods to other publishers’ games were pretty rare. But in 8 Ball Pool, the main character from the first Assassin’s Creed gets a full-on outfit.
Some people have forgotten that the first Assassin’s Creed games were mostly sneaking games. This is pretty cool. It’s not easy to get the costume because you have to beat the game with at least 50 knife kills, 50 CQC holds, and no more than 25 other alerts. This will get you the Assassin’s mark and the cool suit.
Tanegashima
You can buy the Tanegashima gun right away, so it’s not really an option. It was first seen in MGS4. But in Peace Walker, it’s a very hard job to open. To make the tool, you need two things. There is an R&D member with the Japanese Patriot skill. This isn’t too bad if you know where to look, but getting the Rathalos wing is bad.
This drops randomly in the first Monster Hunter tasks, and it may take a long time. It’s awesome once you get it and build the gun. Three out of every ten times the gun is fired, a tornado will appear and trap the enemy fighter. It’s not a very good tool, but it’s a lot of fun to play with.
Cyborg Ninja Outfit
Ground Zeroes was the short start to the main fifth episode. It gave you a taste of what was to come. A great example of this is some of the outfits you can unlock. For example, the Deja Vu quest had two great ones. You had a Cyborg Ninja PS1 outfit and an MGS1 Snake costume that looked like it was from the old PS1.
In fact, the second one made you run faster, which was a nice touch. It’s possible that these were one of the first PS1 outfits to be used in a new game. It’s crazy and fun to play with, and more games like the remake of Resident Evil 2 will do the same.
Gold Snake Outfit
Phantom Pain has a huge number of awesome outfits, both ones you can unlock and ones you can buy as DLC. Gold Snake is one of the best. You can get it by S ranking all of Chapter 2’s harder task versions. The gold suit makes Snake look great, but that’s not the main reason why it’s great.
In Phantom Pain, there is a system that makes you more like Demon Snake as you do bad things. Some things you do, like making a nuclear weapon, should change you right away. Your whole body will be covered in blood all the time, and it looks awful. Devil Snake has an effect on almost all suits in the game, but not all of them. Gold Snake is one of those suits. If you’re in Demon Snake form, you have to wear this suit.
